ADNOC and Soiltech has executed a joint project for the recovery and reuse of brine offshore Abu Dhabi. Brine based drilling fluids are used to protect the formation while drilling and are sometimes very costly. ADNOC presented the results at yesterday’s ADIPEC conference in Abu Dhabi.

This is the first successful processing of oil-contaminated brine in the UAE utilizing a mechanical technology and was the result of a combined team effort. Reduced completion fluids cost, less logistical requirements, and lower impact to subsurface environment were among the key benefits.
