Soiltech has been awarded a contract for treating contaminated water from the drilling process onboard Maersk Drilling’s jack-up Maersk Resolve working for Spirit Energy in the UK. Soiltech’s slop treatment technology (STT) will treat contaminated water and the expected start-up is in the second quarter of 2022. This is Soiltech’s first job for Spirit Energy and the company’s fourth contract in the UK. Soiltech has ongoing cleantech operations in the UK for Shell, Equinor and RepsolSinopec.
The STT is a mechanical technology which is used on location, treating water contaminated with oil and particles. The treated oil and water may be reused in the drilling process. By utilizing the STT, the client reduces the environmental footprint through lowering its CO2 emissions whilst reducing the well cost.
